The Power of Maebh & Beltane

Sovereignty. 

Strength.

Power.

The word archetype comes from the Greek language, archetypon (ἀρχέτυπον), and its original meaning is broken down into archē (ἀρχή), meaning "origin” and typos (τύπος), meaning "model.  Each segment in the wheel of the year is an archetype, an original model of human traits that is common in all of us. Each turn deepens our capacity to understand ourselves and each other, opening the door to more compassion and love.  Maebh, as an archetype, supports us in exploring our power, strength, sovereignty, integrity and truth.

Maebh was the first goddess I worked with during my apprenticeship with Amantha Murphy and the Way of the Seabhean. When I began this spiral walk, my health was in serious trouble. In 2012 I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an auto-immune dis-ease, following the birth of my daughter. Hashimoto’s is a thyroid condition, a beautiful little butterfly gland that sits in the throat. I believe my dis-ease arrived in my physical body as a manifestation of all that I had been suppressing by not using my voice and speaking my truth.

Maebh was my light bringer.  

She provided me with the permission and pathway to welcome my power back. 

As women we often stop making sound and sharing our truth. 

We often do this to keep ourselves safe. 

But when we do, we cut ourselves off from our own vitality and wisdom. 

The throat carries 7 chambers, each connected to your chakras. The chambers help to process and give voice to your ultimate creation - your life.

If you were to tell the story of your life at this very moment - what would the story be? How would the chapter read? Where did she go silent? How does she use her power? Where does she bring the warmth and vitality of fire?

The Fire & Beltane 

In Ireland, at the time of Beltane, all the hearth fires of the home were extinguished. One central fire was created and runners would take flame from the one central fire and relight all the home fires - connecting all as one. This is one of my favorite stories and traditions to hear again and again. It is my dream that one day we can reunite as people who remember we are connected. We are only as strong as our weakest fire and we can call on the energy of Maebh to strengthen and revitalize our personal and collective fire. 

Our work is not only for ourselves but for our families. Seven generations backwards and seven generations forward. The work is often not easy but Maebh is always willing to walk beside us and remind us of our strength.

At the end of the month, a sacred ceremony will be held on May 30th being led by visionary artist Denise McMorrow and Grammy Award winning musician Erik Lawrence to open the healing space of The Prayer Tent for the Divine Mother. If you can’t join us on the 30th, be sure to book some personal space and time for yourself and up to four others in The Prayer Tent for the Divine Mother. Come be held for a while.
